Urban Signal

All over Melbourne, and indeed any major city around the world, laced up shoes appear, thrown hastily on powerlines. An invitation to buy illegal substances? A practical joke? A political statement? The theories abound about what these urban signals might mean.

I like to imagine it's a form of non-destructive graffiti that participants unconsciously create because of the myths that have circulated and have been perpetuated. Literally, art imitating life.

Photography makes me happy,
so I prefer to make art
that makes me smile.

You'll find that colour, ambiguity and wordplay are motifs that are represented a lot in my work.

I just think life's too short for staring at walls of moody,
subdued art photographs.
